Who we are

Dr. Brenda Diaz has made a significant impact in the field of education through her leadership roles at Nashville Big Picture High School and Metro Nashville Virtual School. Her educational journey began with a degree from Rust College, followed by advanced degrees/certifications from the University of Mississippi, University of Memphis, and Union University. Her dedication to innovative education has been recognized with several awards, including the 2022 Big Picture Learning Ted Sizer School Leader of the Year and the 2023 Metro Nashville Public Schools High School Principal of the Year. Dr. Diaz’s commitment extends beyond her schools as she contributes to the Knowledgeworks Lead for Learners Network and the Metro Nashville Public Schools Principal Advisory Committee. Under her guidance, Nashville Big Picture High School achieved the distinction of being a State of Tennessee 2023 Reward School. Dr. Diaz is known for her unwavering commitment to creating personalized learning environments that assure every student knows they are valued and can achieve greatness with love, faith, passion, and consistent support.
